Qualifications:¢ Higher National Diploma (HND) or B/Tech (NQF6/8 or 7/10)
Experience and Requirements:¢ Minimum experience of 5 years
¢ Relevant instrumentation maintenance experience in heavy industry.
¢ Relevant technical experience in maintenance strategy, Root Cause Analysis, failure modes, fault-finding, Project Management, etc.
¢ Computer literate in MS Project; MS Word and MS Excel.
¢ Experience in SAP PS and PM Modules is recommended.
¢ Knowledge of Capital project initiation procedures.
¢ Sound knowledge of plant/process control systems (DCS and or PLCs) will be highly advantageous.
¢ Successful candidate must have vast experience and knowledge of field instrumentation together understanding the principle of operation.
¢ Must be an team player with good communication skills and the ability to influence others.
¢ Will fulfill a leading role in the training and mentoring of instrumentation artisans and technicians, providing guidance during fault finding and plant improvement actions.
¢ Candidate must be familiar with ISO 9000/14000 systems.
¢ Ability to function under pressure is essential.
¢ The candidate must be able to work well with cross diciplanary teams, especially in the fields of electrical automation systems and heavy current.
¢ Exposure and knowledge of relevant legislation relating to Electrical equipment installed in Explosive atmospheres will be advantageous.
¢ Knowledge of WCM principles will be advantageous.

Key Performance Areas:¢ Budgeting for major projects.
¢ Initiating and completing major capital and extraordinary maintenance projects according to:
-Technical specifications plan and budget
-Compiling detail technical specifications
-Quality control of projects machinery and installation
¢ Improving the availability of the plant.
¢ Perform a leading technical role within the diverse scope of instrument installed in the Iron making units.
¢ Developing and maintaining quality assurance systems (ISO 9000/14000).
¢ Supervising a team of highly skilled technical specialist, which include artisans and technicians.
¢ Root cause failure analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
¢ The development and maintaining of maintenance strategies for instrument specific equipment which includes, Analysers, Scales, Weigh feeders, Valves and various other specialised field equipment
¢ Focussing and implementing of continuous improvement initiatives.
¢ The successful candidate will be responsible for the long term replacement strategy of instrumentation equipment and systems.
¢ Measurement and corrective actions of key KPI systems.
¢ Providing a technical advisory, mentoring and coaching role to technical personnel.
¢ Improve the utilization of procedures and quality assurance documents of the maintenance staff on the plant.
¢ Specialist technical support to the execution maintenance departments.
¢ Key involvement in implementation of Fatality Prevention Standards (FPS).
¢ Implementation of WCM-PM projects.
¢ Working in multi-discipline teams to achieve yield and quality targets
