National Diploma in Electronic Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering (NQF 6/10)

Experience and Requirements:

  • 2 years applicable experience in an industrial environment
  • Computer Literacy (MS-Office)
  • Sound knowledge & experience in instrumentation in one or more of the following areas Infrastructure, Steel making, galvanizing or paint-line production
  • Experience in general maintenance of instrumentation system
  • SAP knowledge
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in the following systems/plants will be an added advantage
    • Steel Making
    • Power generation
    • Steam generation
    • Compressors and air generation
    • Energy distribution
  • Experience & knowledge in the following will be an added advantage
    • ABB, Siemens and Allen-Bartley PLC and Scada System
    • Overview of Uninterrupted Power System
    • Level flow, temperature and pressure controllers
    • Cranes €“ DC Cranes and M&H Drives

Key Performance Areas:

  • Planning and organizing of tasks and projects as requested by the Plants
  • Manage capital, EM, spares and planned maintenance
  • Conduct development work (Including hardware and software requirements)
  • Optimization of instrumentation work at Steel Making, new Stand Alone Boilers and Direct Reduction Power Plant
  • New technology introduction in the Level 0 & 1 arena
  • Independent technical problem solving in the Electrical Systems and Instrumentation Level 0 & 1 areas
  • Faultfinding on Instrumentation equipment, including online Analytical equipment
  • Compile budgets, motivations, SAP requirements, tender specifications and administrative tasks
  • Liaison with external suppliers or stakeholders when required
  • Control all aspects of contractors when required
  • Support instrumentation maintenance personnel with day to day tasks
  • Develop training programs for co-workers
  • Mentoring and coaching of apprentices and artisans
  • Conduct SHERQ related duties
  • Perform Callout and Standby duties
