Qualifications:

  • BSc Degree in Environmental Management/Environmental Ecology/Environmental Sciences/Environmental Engineering (NQF7/10) or BSc degree in Hydrology (NQF 7/10) or Higher National Diploma / B-Tech Chemical Engineering (NQF 7/10)

 

 

Experience and Requirements:

  • 4 years€™ relevant working experience
  • Knowledge about:
    • Environmental Management Systems e.g. ISO14001
    • Environmental legislation
    • Compliance monitoring to authorizations and licenses
  • Good understanding of industrial processes, particularly Coke making
  • Good understanding pertaining to sampling of ground water, surface water, waste and isokinetic sampling
  • General knowledge of environmental instrumentation
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, PP etc)
  • Report writing

Key Performance Areas:

  • Maintain legal compliance by keeping up to date with current legislation, assessing activities against legal requirements and advising on required changes
  • Monitor compliance of environmental activities against license requirements, e.g. Stack emissions, water discharge, environmental management programs.
  • Collation and analysis of environmental data
  • Report to Authorities on compliance monitoring results
  • Report to plants on performance against requirements, i.e. on Emissions, Water, Waste management etc., and provide advice to ensure compliance
  • Apply remediation techniques on contaminated areas
  • Identify competent and licensed service providers to perform activities that are not offered internally
  • Procure services and required materials/equipment for execution of tasks
  • Compilation of permit, license and EIA applications
  • Conduct Environmental Awareness Training
  • Conduct plant audits and technical investigations.
